Hey guys, I need programs like Word and Powerpoint for school. I was wondering if I should go for it right now or wait to see if a new version would be coming out. Thanks for your help.

If you're going to a college make sure if they have a deal with Microsoft. I got my copy of Office 2004 for $11. Sure it's Microsoft, but they have the office suite standard down.

I'm still a Junior is High School so I wouldn't be getting any deals. Is it still worth it? I need Word.

If you are buying the student edition you can usually find this for $99 at your local stores. Just checking Apple stores - it appears it is higher. Might want to shop around.

As for a new Mac Office version, I wouldn't expect one till around summer-fall 2007. Reason for my conclusion is Office 12 (codename) for Windows, the upcoming version to replace the current Office 2003 for Windows, will be released around the end of the year (supposdly December) to coincide with Windows Vista. Although developed relativly independently, Microsoft usually likes to release a new Office version for Mac around six-nine months after the Windows release. That's why:)
