The iPad is expected to come out in my country in late May. The more I read about it, there already seem to be all kind of upgrades (including the OS) coming up. Problem is, I can't wait to buy one. So, would you recommend to do it now, and if yes, will I own an already-outdated piece of technology come next fall?

Thks for your advice

Confused

Concern yourself with the here and now. If you want it, buy it and enjoy it. Don't worry about the future because no one knows what it will bring, who cares really as long as you get enjoyment from your iPad?

For sure.
Something "better" is always on the horizon.

I don't know about you but I can tell you what I'm gonna do...

Apple releases stuff every few months so I'll probably just sell, put up whatever cash is extra, and pick up the next generation of the product.

After all, most of us are using disposable income on these things. If you got the money, and can't wait I say go for it :D

It's just an os upgrade which you will be getting, no one else is gonna have it befor the fall so you won't be behind in tech

The iPad is likely to have a yearly refresh rate like the other Apple devices, so I would buy it now. The 4.0 OS will be a free upgrade anyway.

Not to sound too morbid, some of us may not be around next fall.......if you think you will get use out of it buy now! It's an absolutely amazing device. Go for it!

Wow every few months!?! I must have missed a lot of product releases!
Where have I been!?

Poor information like this is what's going to confuse the OP and deter him from buying
Most apple products are on AT LEAST a 12 month cycle...

MAC people are great

Thks so much for your advice MAC people. I always want the latest of everything, and get frustrated when I do not own them, or need to upgrade after a short time only.

Reading these replies is a big plus in favor of getting an iPad. 80% sure now - from 50-50.

Hopefully, one day, the iPad will be as close to being a full-fledged laptop as possible (my dream world, I guess).

Again HUGE thk U

What I want to know is when will this thing show up on Amazon and it's ilk? No sales tax ftw :)

A new iPhone gets released once a year, so the chances are pretty good that the same will happen w/the iPad as well. We're talking probably next spring, 2011.

Will it be better, w/better features, probably, then again, the next one after that will as well. So how long should you wait?

Just go and buy one and enjoy it. ;)
