I was wondering if there were any leads on upates to the powermacs at MWSF? I know they just got the quad core less than 6 months ago, but they have updated products in shorter than anticipated time-lapses before. Also I was wondering if the current quad core will be better than the top of the line Intel Powermac that will be debuting (whenever it does). Any information on the subject would help.

Oh and just so you know, I was looking at the Quad 2.5.

Thanks.

Please Wait for the deal of the century.

Those religious nuts keep saying the civilization is coming to an end ... if you wait until that happens, these electric devices should be really cheap. ;)

Hey, you might be right.. the money I saved waiting will probably buy me a new synthetic body too! Meanwhile you will die with your garage full of gadgets :D

Yeh, buy now!!

It's a case of not loosing any productivity! Even if they do update in March, you will have lost three months and a half of potential work. Do it now. I personally don't think that Apple will upgrade to a 2.7 dual core anyway. It's a pretty safe bet!

Now, they are not getting updated until June and the machines will be slower (and hotter) than they currently are.

I am tempted to buy a Quad 2.5 as well. Tasty machine.

Personally im waiting.

My PC is "OK", the only thing im really peeved with is the noisy PSU.

An Intel PowerMac in mid 2006 would be very welcome.

June 2007 you mean. The *first* Intel Macs are due by June 2006, but the transition was stated to be completed by 2007. Power Macs are last. Anyone waiting for an Intel Power Mac is going to be waiting a LONG time.

Actually, the Quad G5s have been shipping for less than a month at this point.

What you get and when depends on your wants and needs.

The odds of a PowerMac update before May are slim and even then the odds are low that it willbe an Intel PowerMac.

You know you want the Quad... go ahead and buy it.

The quad just came out. It's the most powerful Mac ever made, and one of the most powerful desktop computers sold. Definitely not going to be out-of-date quickly, no matter what goes on with the Intel transition. Besides, it was just released, which means it won't be updated for quite a while. Until all the pro-apps (Creative Suite, Final Cut Suite, music apps, etc) have native Intel versions, there's not going to be much demand for an Intel Power Mac.
