A few days ago I upgraded my 4 year old Samsung text message phone to the 16 GB iPhone 4S. I sold my 32 GB iPod Touch 4G last week that I bought 5 months ago, because I wanted an all in one device, I usually download my music from iTunes and rip cds at 256 kbps VBR, and I will never max out the space and I don't like playing games on the small screen that the iPhone and iPod Touch has (I'm currently waiting for the iPad Mini 32 GB version). I would like to know if its a good idea for me to purchase the 16 GB Nano? I usually go to the the gym a few times a week and jog in different parks in my city and it would be hassle to use my iPhone 4S to listen to music because of its bulkiness.

I bought one a month ago to use at the gym. I also don't like using the iPhone at the gym because it is rather bulky when running and it is bouncing around in your pocket. I love using the 6G nano at the gym.

The nano is a great music player for running, except it can be difficult to navigate the screen when you're running/exercising. I've found a few things that helps out navigating.

1. Set up playlists for the nano - getting to/from the playlist screen can be frustrating when you're running. If you're using the Nike+, it's pretty much impossible to go back to the playlist screen.

2. Use a pair of headphones with the remote. You're iPhone headphones will work. The center button on the headphone will allow you to skip forward and backwards with a double click or triple click.

If you're an exercise stat-hound, you'll want to use Nike+. The only thing is the nano doesn't have GPS (for running outdoor). You'll need to use your iPhone (with the Nike+ GPS app) for that. The iPhone is actually a little more versatile with the since there are many more apps for running.

Yes I dont think there is much of a reason to wait, the ipod classic, nano, or shuffle are unlikely to have any significant updates anymore unfortunately. At best there might be a capacity bump next year but 16 gb or even 8 gb should be good enough for the gym.

If you workout a lot the nano 6th gen is great and the built in clip is awesome and if you don't like clipping it to your shirt or shorts you can buy an armband. I use mine all the time wile working out and love to slip it into my pocket while I have a skate session and I don't have a fear of breaking it because it's so small.

Wouldnt the Shuffle suits your need more? Or the 2gb is just not enough?
