I was searching around eBay and I wanted to get a mac mini as a htpc. I found one with no hard drive in it and the seller said that when he put in a hard drive... he turned it on and there was no chime but the power lights came on. Do u think that means that if I put in a hard drive and install leopard... it will work or should I stay away from it? Here's the link...

uh no, run, don't walk away from this broken mini.

Buying broken ebay stuff is usually like flushing money down the toilet. I can't tell you have much useless stuff my staff accumulates because they have the "I can fix anything" mentality.

Of course if you have time, spare parts and money to burn, go for it, it's always fun to experiment.

Cheers,

Usually if you want to save money, don't buy broken stuff.

As with no chime, it could be just be that the sound is muted, but no video probably means something else.
