Hi, just wanted some quick advice on whether to buy an iPad from the UK or US. Although it's cheaper in the US, I live in the UK and I am worried about buying an iPad from the US as it might no be covered should it need to be repaired?

Thanks in advance.

From what I understand, after sales tax you're looking at it being about £20 cheaper if you buy it in the US - that's if you dodge import taxes - never mind postage and packing and so on.

Now that they're released in the UK there is very little reason to buy one abroad.

Warranty is international btw.
Unless you go to the US (or someone get one for you), don't order it from the US (Customs and taxes won't help you)

If you are in the US and they have stock, then yes get it there. If you're talking about importing it, then don't bother and go to your local apple store/pc world/currys.

Yes, I will be in the US twice in the next three weeks. Just wanted to check the warranty was international.

There's also the fact that you have the US charger with it, I guess a cheap adapter will do the trick, I'd just prefer to have a UK one to a US one, also UK receipt etc, just easier unless you go to a tax-free state where it's more value for money.

The charger itself is universal. You just need to swap the 2 pin prong on the end for a 3 pin prong. I've got dozens lying around from all the iPhones/Macbook chargers I've had.

And then there's the current low stock situation in the US to consider...

Getting the same in the UK, only ipads in my area left are 64gb currently and not many, local Apple store have no idea when they will get stock. I am on the waiting list as I want to swap my 16gb for a 32gb.

You will be lucky to get one in the US if you are looking for 3G.

I phoned up over two weeks ago and added my name to a list at a US store. I have now been to the States and come back again without an ipad, luckily I got hold of a 64GB 3G last Friday here at home. My advice would be get one here while you can.
