Should I by a Blackbook, right now?

Okay, I'm on my university network so I'm now entitled to the Apple HE discount...I'm looking at the Blackbook order button now...

I have however, a dilema......I am travelling to Germany in a couple of days to see my girlfriend for a few weeks, arriving back on the 6th of October (Note that the £100 off i-pod offer ends on the 7th)......if I wait for the Macbook to be upgraded, I will not be able to order until after the 7th because I won't have access to the higher education store, thus I cannot get the i-pod rebate. I can't get access to the HE store whilst I'm in Germany via the NUS website because I lost my university card (it was stolen, along with my wallet in Prague!) which contains the "18-digit code" I need to register on the nusonline.co.uk (which previously I had no desire to use). Furthmore, I requested a replacement university card today but typically, the machine is broke.

So, what do I do?

Order now and get the i-pod rebate (which won't even really for me but for my Dad...who will give me the money...) and have the Blackbook waiting for me when I get back?

Or, wait for the upgrade and lose out on the i-pod rebate, and have another couple of weeks of waiting?
 
You do realise that upgraded models won't get the free iPod right?

That's what happens for the iMac. Just get it already and stop beating the dead horse. The iPod is Apple's payment to you for use of your arse literally, students are just being used as dumping grounds for old stocks. If you are unwilling to render such services for Apple, then on what grounds will they see the need to "pay" you?

Apple is a business, not a charity.
 
Isn't the 'old-stock' the i-pod? ...since Macbooks aren't actually upgraded yet? ...and the i-pod offer has been around for quite a number of weeks...when the Macbook was quite new...

I am sorry that I wasn't aware that the iMac wasn't covered under the deal, and in no way did I request charity from apple...

In the UK the offer still stands, i think there is some kind of law in the uk that means they can't go back on it.

What?!

Free 3 yr warranty + consumer laws! I suppose that 17% VAT is worth something!
