I recently purchased a refurbished 15" PB 1.33 GHz. And so far it is doing pretty well. Except for a couple of things. I already made one thread that no one responded to about the some difficulties with the keyboard. But more recently I have noticed that the fan makes a horrible noise when it comes on when I put heavy loads on the processor. On my old 12" PB when the processor was loaded the fan would come on and you would hear a nice quiet whir, like a cat purring (you know, the tiger under the hood!). Well with the 15" PB when the fan comes on it sounds like a kid ridding a bicycle with a baseball card in the spokes!!! Not a smooth quiet purr. So, should I call Apple? or stop by the store? I know with the fan sound they will want me to reproduce it, so is there any simple way just to load the processor to heat things up? Or does anyone know a simple fix? like hit it right on the 57 to get it to re-align the fan so it will spin quietly. Thanks!

In your head.
Yes call- if you can stop by a store they would better be able to help you. If you have a store near you, then go there. Lots of programs load the processor, just find the most intense one. Rendering always does it for me. Backlight always seems to cause the fan to run for me. Likely, apple has a way of telling you how to get the fan to turn on. As far as hitting the computer...;). Though that used to unlock some hard drives that were previously dropped.

After reading your previous thread it would seem that you would be best served by going to the Apple store on Knox Street (if your in Dallas).

Good luck.

Are you stalking me? That store is in the same city that I live . . . oh wait, it says I'm from dallas in every post from me! heh. Yeah the Knox Street store is a good one. Except it seems like whenever I have time to stop by then there is always a line at the genius bar. And I dont really like to wait. So one of these days soon I should stop by and just wait. Thanks for your input Hal, er i rather i mean eniregnat!!
