I placed an order with apple for a Mac Pro with ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI) and i am thinking i should have gotten the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512MB, Stereo 3D (2 x dual-link DVI) insted. I can see its better for gaming.

Id stick with the one you have, thats a hell of a lot of money for 12 more fps in quake 4 that you're very unlikely to notice anyway!

Personally, I think its silly to even consider going with the Quadro FX for gaming when you look at the dollars involved. Another thing to consider is what games you are talking about. The Quake engine is optimized for nVidia GPU's while the Havok engine (think Half-Life 2) runs better on ATI GPU's. Check out the benchmarks for the games that you intend to play most often before deciding what graphics card is right for you.

Quadros are not gaming cards. They are intended for real time rendering. I understand that it is faster in the games, however paying $1300 for something that is intended for uses you don't have is not a smart thing to do.

Look at the cost to performance ratio. The X1900 is a $350 add on for about 2.5x the performance. The Quadro is a $1650 add on for about the same performance. Frankly, that's the most idiotic way to spend $1350 in my opinion. Buy some RAM with that money. If you're putting that much money into a gaming machine...that's pretty ridiculous. Buy 3 XBox 360's or something...damn.

Stick with ATI... you won't even notice the diff and will save a LOT of cash that will let you buy numerous games for your fun
Enjoy :)
