Purchased HomePod out of FOMO when it’s gone. I have OG Google Home, 1 Home Mini in bedroom and Cast enabled 2.1 Sony Soundbar in my living room. Been looking to upgrade speaker to better sounding one and integrate Siri with controlling smart lights in my apartment.
I checked HomePod Mini store and to be honest it didn’t really impresses me compared to my Google Home on sound. It didn’t sound bad, definitely better than Home Mini or Echo Dot I use at work. I was expecting it to sound better than my 2017 Google Home though.
I splurged extra for OG HomePod, despite that I was originally going to wait to buy AirPods Pro 2 and maybe get HomePod Mini.
The sound is great but I find bass little too overwhelming sometimes. However after 30-60 minutes of playback it seems to adjust and softer it a little bit. Not sure if it’s real or placebo effect.
I wish it supported Spotify using Siri because I like it better than Apple Music. Without AM, it’s less worth for me with my use cases than HomePod Mini.
