I bought a slightly used early Macbook Pro 15 (2013 I think) from a friend earlier this year and immediately upgraded to Catalina. When I found out that I couldn't use iTunes with Catalina and couldn't update my iPod Nano 7 with Apple Music (I couldn't create playlists in Apple Music that were visible on the Nano) I downgraded to Mojave.

Anywho, 7 months later and I'm wondering if some of the kinks in Catalina have been worked out plus I found out I can install and run iTunes on Catalina by using Retroactive.

So, is there any downside for me to upgrade to Catalina now?

I wouldn't due to a lot of system instability which is still unresolved as of 10.15.7. If you do, keep backups so that you can easily revert.
