Since I'm saving up for an iPhone now, is it worth saving up some extra cash for a case? If so, what kind is best. Thanks.

Personally, yes I would get one. It's a very valuable gadget and ground impacts are bad, even if the device survives. Many here are going "naked" and I think the iPhone was designed with this in mind, but I think a little "shock absorption" is a good thing.

As I mentioned in another thread, I dropped my Treo many times. It survived, but it looks like h@#$.

I picked up the rubber incase case not just for the protection but for the grip. That metal can be a bit slippery and I would just cry if I dropped my phone.

Can't remember a phone I have owned that has touched the ground but this one isn't going to be the first :p

You've never dropped your phone? Wow! I've dropped mine too many times to remember.. I'm definitely using a case with mine for obvious reasons..LOL.. for me, it's not a matter of IF i drop it , but WHEN..

I plan on getting a case but I will wait till the products improve. The ones I have seen aren't that great.

I agree. I may just go the traditional full body invisible shield/eGrips route. That seems to be the slimmest arrangement, adds no bulk. Doesn't protect against drops, but that's what the eGrips are for.

Hmm...I think I might as well wait.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but has anyone tried the egrips yet? Their website is devoid of pictures of how the egrips look on an iphone and I am reluctant to buy them sight unseen.

I'm happy with my black rubber incase and a plastic face cover. I do wonder if it makes it hotter though...

BTW, for $5 at Target, I got a small photo carrying case with a neck strap that is almost the right size (a little too thick). Handy at times and the price is right.

Absolutely! Choice of cases . . . depends on your own personal preference and needs.
I like Case Mate's flip case with holster. I wanted a case that protected the front as well as the back yet did not hide the beauty of the iPhone. Also wanted a case that allowed docking without removing the case. So, this particular case worked for me. ;)
