So I am an android user and in the market for buying wireless earbuds. As far as true wireless earbuds go, the airpods seem to be the best and least expensive. However I do know that some of the features are lost when using it with android. I do jog, and I believe these are stay in pretty tight, otherwise I can get an ear hook for them. Right now I have a $200 smartphone(2y temporary due to breaking my Glxy5). Next year before I go to college I will get a new smartphone, either the Galaxy S9 or OnePlus 6. Right now most new smartphones come with bluetooth 5.0. Will the connectivity be any different if I get the current bluetooth airpod or wait for the airpods to get updated with 5.0 which might be in a whole year.

If you're on Android, why not Beats X or Bose Soundsport? For something truly wireless, Bose Soundsport Free makes a good alternative to Airpods.

Beats X doesn't look nice in my opinion. I'm not in to the stiff neck band. Also the X have a lot of slack from the ear bud to neckband, thus the wire will go pass the cheekbones. I would have gone for the power beats 3 but I saw the bad reviews on Apple and Amazon. The Bose soundsport is expensive, I'm only a teenager, and my parents get a say whenever I spend. My limit is less than $150.

I have the AirPod and to be honest, (my opinion) they are not all that. The price point should have been $99. You will want to make sure they can stay in your ear without falling out. Your average 1hr+ business call will have you reaching for the charger. Sometimes they just drop connection for no reason, or one pod will connect and the other won't.

If you do decide you might want to wait a few months, Apple will be releasing a new wireless charging pod case. I'm pretty sure they are going to charge $50+ for everyone else who just wants the case. In the meantime you can grab a pair of MPOW wireless bluetooth headsets off of Amazon. They are about $30 are really good, for the price... just look at the reviews.
