Hi guys, after hearing so many comments on the inferior quality of the MBA LED screen, I doubt if I should get the Air now or wait till Apple reveals a remedy/change the manufactured screen.
You should learn to read better. The quality of the MBA screen is superior compared to the MacBook and probably up there with the MBP.
Get an MB Air now if you need/want.
No doubt the MBA screen is superior when compared to Macbook. Have you read the threads on the MBA Rev2 screen problem - Thin grey lines appearing across the screen. I am comparing the screen of the Rev1 and Rev2 MBAs.
The line thing seems to be a bit of hype and not occurring throughout the entire line. But either way, the choice is entirely yours.
When you ask for an exchange due to defects, Apple is likely to replace your HW with the refurbish set (similar to the way iPhone 3G got replaced in Singapore due to yellow-tinted screen). My friend experienced 3 replacements for the same piece of product he purchased. I would rather get the first set right than going thru all the hassle. Comeon Apple, manufacture your products in Japan - their production goes through vigorous QA before shipping out to the consumers.Apple is responsible for any defect, small or large. If you receive a screen with the faint horizontal lines, just get it replaced.
It ain´t easy. I´d go for an MBA immediately, but because of the "thin lines" - issue i hesitate.
The thing is: i´d buy on developer discount; according to apple´s conditions you cannot give back items bought on that discount. I really would hate to have a crappy screen, dead pixels or something like that an couldn´t even replace the item in case of.
BTW, I have both Gen. 1&2 Airs and the screens are extremely close to each other in performance and I have NO LINES.
Are you saying that MBA1's screen is a bit better?

There's nowhere on the developer website that states that if you buy an Apple product that has defects it cannot be exchanged.
You can choose the discount once a year (as long as you´re a select member or higher).Where you really get significant discounts with the developer pricing is on macbook pros and mac pros.
Since it's a once in a lifetime thing, are you sure you want to use it on a macbook air????
If it has undoubted faults, Apple will of course exchange. But dead pixels or a disputed display are no clear fault, so i don´t think they would exchange.
