I am looking to get the upcoming rumoured Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 in the future.

I am thinking of getting it for the battery life and the larger sceen and the 4:3 aspect ratio wlll be great for things like web browsing, playing games, lots more then the 16:9(is only great for watching videos/movies) because my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 has poor battery life(only 3/4 hours of sceen time most of the time and on a lucky day 5 hours) which is very disappointing for a tablet. :/

And it will have the latest Android OS(Lollipop) it will be great :D
as my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 still has not got Lollipop yet, still on KitKat. :(

And the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 will be much more powerful and have better battery life then my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and it will have the Super AMOLED display.

And the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will be released sometime in June which is soon!

Plus the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 will be very thin(5.5mm) thinner than the Ipad Air 2 and my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and it will be lighter as well!

My original plan was to wait for the Ipad Air 3 this fall and buy that but i don't really know what to do as i want to get the Ipad Air 3 so i can have 3 major OS's on tablets and i really like the Ipad as well and will be my 1st ever Ipad.....

So If i buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2? Will it be a good upgrade from the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4? I think it would be a good upgrade especially with the battery life Or should i wait for the Ipad Air 3 this fall and buy that instead?

What would you do??? I am becoming more interested in buying the upcoming Tab S2 9.7 as time goes on! :)

Well, I would wait for the reviews for the battery life. I think an iPad is better overall because the selection of apps, faster updates, and better media consumption since iOS gets some streaming subscriptions before Android (ie HBO To Go). An iPad has great battery life itself too.

It will be a big upgrade for you! :)

But it won't be as big of a upgrade comparing to mine when i bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 from Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.

THAT'S A HUGE UPGRADE!!! :D

I don't think the GTab S2 will be a good upgrade. I don't think that any GTab is a good upgrade. Samsung suffers from a malady that I call "corporate ADD". Every few months they lose interest in their current devices, pump out a new series of tablets and abandon the previous gen.

Because the turnover is so great, accessory manufacturers don't/can't produce accessories for all the models. That is frustrating for long haul ownership.

For example: I think that the Pro 8.4 is a terrific device. But there are no quality keyboard covers that are custom made for it that are comparable to what is available for the iPad Mini/Air. I'm not talking about covers that use goofy elastic corner straps, or that slide into a leather sleeve with a cutout for the screen... but ones with sleek, form-fitting plastic clips. The big companies like Logitech, Belkin, Zagg, etc. don't/can't do it.

If you are interested in the S2, then I suggest waiting a few months after its release... it'll drop $100-200 as they get ready for "the next big thing".

Samsung usually offers trade in incentives toward a purchase of their new tablets, that is the only way I would even think twice from the get go. And it would not be my Pro, any tablet needs to be inclusive to make me cave as I have some older dinosaurs. :)

They recently did that incentive with their new Tab, any working tablet.

Seriously agree. I'm done with Samsung and their ADD. I was happy to get an Otterbox for my Tab Pro 8.4 for $30, but once this thing calls it quits I'll be switching to an iPad or Nexus tab.

I wouldn't say Samsung loses interest in their devices.not when it comes to the tab line. It's their flagship product.

Ipad are great but I want options on a tablet and SD card slot is far more important on a tablet than a phone so I expect they keep the SD card even on a metal tablet

I have the 8" tab S and while I love it as a tablet, it is my go to compared to my ipad ret mini, however the one thing I am very disappointed in is the battery life. It drains pretty quick on standby mode even and I have to charge it more often than I would like. It is not on lollipop which may or may not make a difference but that is the only area that the tablet has let me down. Otherwise it is a stellar tablet and I use it more than my ipad mini. If the battery was as good I would sell my ipad mini.

Oh! I just got the lollipop update, I checked after this post. Perhaps it will improve battery. Don't get me wrong, the battery life is not HORRIBLE but it surely isn't good. Maybe this will improve it, wish me luck!

Thanks guys but i think i wait for the Ipad Air 3 when it comes out this fall because i really really really WANT to get a Ipad(4:3 aspect ratio, Better apps, More) and to have 3 majors OS's on tablets. :)

And to be honest deep down in my head i am more interested in getting the Ipad than getting another Samsung Galaxy Tablet.

Didn't you post this same thread before in the past and reached the same conclusion?

You do realise that the new S tab 2 will have 4.3 ratio?

Yes i know that the Tab S2 will have 4:3 ratio.

But it is still Android and will pretty much be the same experience as i get with my Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and i don't really want that...

So that means when i buy a Ipad(Air 3 this fall) it is going to be a COMPLETE different(and better) experience.

Only 4 months to go, Can't wait!!!! :D :D :D :D

Well a RUMOR is the new S will have an Atom processor so that is different. :)

If the new Tab S2 will have a Intel Atom chip inside then i definitely won't be buying it because i use to have a netbook(couple years ago) that have Atom chip and it was a horrible experience and it was soo underpowered even for very simple tasks like web browsing, watching videos and lots more it would lag up so badly very easily....
