Amazon has the 2.4Ghz Penryn now for only around $291 more than what I just paid for the 2.2Ghz model a little over a week ago after a $150 rebate. I'm considering trying to return my MBP to Amazon stating that it has sort of a yellowish tint across the bottom of the screen, which it does have, and see if they'll let me just get a refund and purchase the more expensive model. Think it's worth it?

2.2Ghz T7500 ->> 2.4Ghz T8300
8600M GT 128MB ->> 8600M GT 256MB
120GB HDD ->> 200GB HDD
non-multitouch trackpad ->> multitouch trackpad

Yes. If there is a yellowing across the screen, they'll even pay for the return shipping so you won't lose a penny.

If you have an Apple store nearby, you might even be able to get that return taken care of in store and not have to pay the extra money. I've seen people post that they've gotten lucky like that in the past...

I don't think you can do a return to an Apple store when you buy the MBP from a third party vendor like Amazon. I wouldn't be able to get the discounted price from the Apple store on the new 2.4Ghz Penryn model either.

I'm not saying you would return it, but would instead go in and see about getting a replacement for your "defective" machine. I've seen instances on these boards where people have taken in their pre-Penryn machines for repair and gotten a Penryn.
