As a 6+ user currently very satisfied w/ 8.4.1, should I hold off on the iOS9 update tomorrow? I'm willing to do a clean install of it. From what I'm gathering, it'd be safe to wait, perhaps until 9.1 even.

Well, I have the iOS 9 GM on my iPhone 6 and so far I'm loving it. I would wait for 9.1 though, because there are some calendar glitches in 9.0.
I have the 6 plus and I updated to 9 gm because of the Apple watch and the need to install watchOS 2. Otherwise 8.4.1 was so much better on my 6 plus in terms of battery life and smoothness
Due to the nature of forums (people with issues looking for solutions and discuss the issues with others who have the issues) You will get a lot of negative feedback on 9.0. Don't let that fool you to thinking it's utter rubbish though. It's never as bad for everyone as some may suggest. Performance varies widely from person to person with any version of software and device.
The best advice is to try it out for your self. No one can tell you how good or bad it will run for YOU on your device. Give it at least a week and if you don't like it then revert back. I've heard of people saying they tried beta or GM for literally only 20 minutes, that's not even close to long enough to get the full picture. There is usually 2 weeks or so until Apple stops signing the older version, so you'll have time to test it out and come to your own conclusion.

Yep, I might do just that and if my iOS 9.0 experience turns out bad I'll just downgrade to 8.4.1 within a week.
well I personally feel that the public release is butter smooth and really stable on iPhone 6 plus

I don't want to get a brick in the next days I think it's slightly better than 8.4.1, but not as good as it could/should be. 8.4.1 would start out smooth but got laggy as time went on. Battery life is about the same.
Well, I took it guys.
It's noticeably slower as of now, but still fine overall. I'm sure it'll get better over the next day or so. I'm happy with the new features most notably the content blocker.
