If I order an iPhone Pro Max today it says it may not get to me until Nov 4th. Should I just wait and order closer to the holidays to try to catch a holiday sale?

Won't make any difference. Carriers are already offering good trade-in offers and Apple, as usual will not be offering any discounts to the new iPhones or really any of their products.

Which is a good thing in my view because it keeps resale value strong and in my case I can recoup most of my money after one year

EXACTLY. Glad I found a 14 Pro Space Black 256gb near me. Just kept looking on the Apple Store and Inventory Watch lol

Apple doesn't have sales. The best you can hope for is carrier trade in deals or gift cards to the 3rd party store you purchase from (walmart, Target, Costco, etc..).

Order now. If you want carrier deals many out there. What more do you expect? Also what makes you think getting one will be any easier during holidays. I say 1-2 more month before it gets widely easy to get one. That’s already December or so. So go pre order now on a carrier discount is you want that.

Definitely not through apple themselves as they don't do sales. Best to look at other places that does.
