My current computer is a Santa Rosa(late 2007) Macbook. It's running a C2D at 2.2GHz, 4GB and a 256GB SSD. This little guy served me great for the last few years, but it's time to move on.
Okay so what you need to know about me. I watch 1080p/720p Video files with DTS and all the other high-end video audio formats. I also process raw photos from my Canon T2i. I also less than occasionally edit HD video files, listen to high end music, and dual boot windows to occasionally game. All of which are a bit to strenuous for this little macbook. Especially when outing video to my HDTV. I need my next mac to be capable of running all of this smoothly and faster. Basically my mac is a media center + workstation(makes it sound like i do this for a living, hah
)
Anyway I was deciding on getting a flashship MBP with the i7 processor and high-res anti glare display and later upgrading it with my own SSD and RAM. I was also planning on purchasing an apple cinema display or some other external monitor. Reason being is my HDTV only supports up to 1080i and I don't like.
OR
I was planning on getting the flashship 27inch iMac with the core i7 processor and later upgrading the ram and seeing if I could self install a SSD.
What would be better for me/a smarter idea? I'm going to college in 2012 and I don't really bring my macbook out of the house unless I have a project/presentation I need to finish up last minute,but I do bring my macbook with me all over the house.
(also if you we wondering where I keep all my HD video and what not, I have 2 1TB lacie NAS hooked up to an ethernet switch hooked up directly to my macbook via ethernet.)
