That title sounds pretty bad now that I look at it : ) Anyway, can I safely put my MacBook to sleep and put it in my Incase sleeve, or will it overheat? When it goes to sleep, I don't hear any sounds coming from the machine, so I assume nothing is running. Also, if I close the monitor (which I presume puts it in sleep mode) will my programs continue to run (like Limewire) or will they stop? Thanks guys, you're the best!

Keeping it in a sleeve while it's sleep should be fine, I carry my MacBook in my bag while it's asleep alot. And putting your Mac to sleep will cause all operations and processes to cease, so no, limewire and every other app will not be running.

There are certain programs which prevented the mac from sleeping when the lid was closed, however, 10.4.8 broke them.

Alright guys, thanks for the info. So are there any workarounds for closing the lid but keeping programs up?

Nono, I'd like to leave something like Limewire on or rip a DVD when I go o bed, but I don't like leaving the monitor up. I'm paranoid something will hit it.

What, like a bird? People throwing balls around in your room? Goblins?

Just dim the monitor down to zero and let it work, nothing's going to hit it.

yeah just set the display to go to sleep after like 2 minutes of inactivity and leave the macbook open. This is what I do with my g5 wen I'm running bit torrent and such.

As other have said, what are you paranoid about hitting your monitor? psycho cat/dog?
