Should i remux all my mkv to m4v

I have this urge to convert all my movies to m4v. I would do a remuxing using remux app. Should i do it?

It's only destructive in terms that if your audio is non-AC3 or non-AAC you'll then you'll essentially be 'downgrading' the audio, but that's what it takes to get it to work on iOS, so...

ya i checked all of the audio is ac3 and some of it is aac, so no audio issues. What i meant by my question is, am i making a really bad choice by going ahead with the remux??

I remux alot of my stuff with no issues. I would recommend iFlicks (paid but worth it), mp4tools/MKVtools, or subler. IVI can also do remuxing too.

I prefer the first two but have tried them all.

I'm seems to be a waste of time, unless you want to play your movies on your iDevice. MKVs play quite well in conjunction with Plex, and they have apps for both iOS and Android at this point. If you don't use your movies on the go, I'd just stick with mkv. It's a much better container.

I used iFlicks and I find it to be a great solution. No jailbreaking or third party apps required. I recommend it. You can always store a copy of the original files if you need to have them. Or just remux the other direction.

The time on a remuxer which also tags is negligible. Universal compatibility is important to many people, especially in the AppleTV forum. Why keep a video in MKV when you can have a mp4/m4v that plays on all your own, and friends and family devices without a quality hit, plus tagging.

I don't mind MKV, actually prefer it to some formats, but mp4 is universal with 99% of the people that I might share a file.

Also more PC users that I might share a video with more likely have iTunes and QuickTime installed than VLC or plex.
