I've owned tons of iOS devices since the original iPod and never had a problem, but somehow my new 6S Plus that I've been babying got a huge scratch down the corner of the screen. I can't figure out how this happened, as it's long and deep and something that should not have occured during normal usage; but it did. I have Applecare + and don't mind paying for screen replacement, but I'm curious, is it risky? I hate to have a flawless 2 week old phone torn open and replaced with parts sourced from wherever. I figure since it's a 6S with 3D touch, the replacement screen would likely be new. Has anyone had Apple replace your scratched or cracked screen? Did you have good luck with it? Would you replace this screen or just live with it? Looking for any and all insight.

Yes it is worth it. They do a professional job at it. With AppleCare + it costs 79 dollars. Definitely do, its much better then a huge scratch down the screen. If they do a bad job repairing the screen then say something to them and they might just get you a new phone all together.

Thanks for the response!
