I purchased the Imac 27" I5 via apple refurb. I have purchased about 4 other computers via refurb in the past. I received my imac friday and after unboxing the fasns were full blast. I looked at zapping the pram and reset the sms about five times to no avail. I installed sms fan control just to see which fan was going high and it was my cpu @ 3865.
I finally called apple and asked does anyone test these refurb machines before sending them out. Of course you know that answer. Anyway my imac went to sleep and I noticed the fans had went calm. The cpu was at 92 degrees and the fan was 945. I could not do anything due to the beachball effect and had to hard reboot. Once I did that fans went loud again. Went to sleep this time and no beachball effect and been okay ever since.
I have all my paperwork to send back to apple monday for a replacement. I need to know if I slhould wait now or go ahead and send back. The cpu temp goes up around 94 at most so far. The fans stay at 940 or so. Has anyone else exp all this with the I5 setup? What is the danger temp for the cpu? Thanks

Get a replacement. You've already had so many issues so you don't even want to know what may happen in future

Nevermind.........on internet this morning and cpu temp got to 119 degrees..fans kicked in so going back to apple asap.
