I just bought the 8 gig 3g and I have a few days to return it.
I am concerned about the issue with the Infineon chip. Perhaps if I do return it and wait, the defective models will be replaced by new and improved models. What do you think??

thanks

you have a one-year warranty, which (in my experience, at least) Apple honors very well. I wouldn't return the iPhone on speculation, but if you are having problems, you should be able to exchange your phone easily.

This is coming from someone with an 8gb 3g iPhone, too.

No, it was said that Apple would address this with a software update not a product recall, there is nothing wrong with the chip.
