Help please.....

I went to the Apple store yesterday and fell in loveeeee with the 11.6 Macbook Air....

Here's my problem....I have a 13inch Macbook Pro, the 21 inch iMac (the newest one on the market), and got an iPad for graduation......

Should I sell one of my products and get the new Air....or should I keep what I have?????

Any thoughts would be helpful :)

I'd buy the MBA11 and play with it for a week or two and see how much you use the 13" and iPad. My guess is you can sell both 13" and iPad and just keep the 11" and iMac.

I'm selling my MacBook and iPad to get both MacBook Airs. My wife wants the 11.6" and I'm going to get the 13". I honestly think this is the future of laptops.

You could probably get by with the MacBook Air and iMac, but for me, I prefer one computer.

Buy the MBA13, sell your MBP, keep the iPad.

At least, keep the iPad until next January. It isn't going to depreciate before then, no point in getting rid of it.

Sell your MacBook Pro, keep the iPad and get the MacBook Air.
Since you have the iMac if you need a lot of power.
I'd also say to keep your iPad, because it's such a different experience.

Sell the MBP, and get the Air. 900$ for something you essentially paid 1000$ for is really good. I would do that. I would also sell my iPad, but that depends what you use it for. I would only keep it for the apps, because the browsing and video watching, etc can all be done on the 11" MBA. Soon enough the App Store, apps will also be on your MBA.
I didn't use my iPad anymore (not for browsing/typing) and not for games either (find my iPhone is way more portable for games, little things), so I got rid of it and replaced it with the MBA.

I think the MBA 11" will compliment your iMac very well.

I'm selling my iPad. I have not touched it since I got my Air.

Neither have I, but thats mostly just because the Air is new and shiny. The iPad is still better for a lot of things.

How much does a base model iPad go for these days anyway?

Depends; do you have an iPhone?

Actually, wait... No it doesn't. Get rid of the iPad regardless. You aren't going to carry both it and the 11.6" at the same time, and the Mac is actually useful for getting things done as well as consuming. Leave your MBP as your main machine for longer trips away from home so that you aren't always constrained to an 11.6" display.

I think many of us bought the iPad, dreaming of doing things you'd do with the 11" Air.

I realized I need full OS X, keyboard and trackpad for the stuff I need to do when I'm out of office/home. 11" Air is perfect.

I'm keeping my maxed out (last year) MBP13" on the other hand. It's a tiny workstation for me.

I agree. I have a MacBook Air 13" (old model 2.13/SSD) and an iPad 3G 32GB. I'm getting the 11.6" 1.6/4GB/128GB and I plan to sell my old 13" sometime in the future but I am keeping my iPad. At least the iPad will be handy for 3G wireless internet when I need it, and I have a bunch of apps on mine, and it's fun for gaming and playing around with virtual instruments. The iPad for me is more fun and games than a work tool, while the MacBook Air is a productivity workhorse that can take the place of a main computer. It can actually run OS X and every modern computer app out there. Even Windows.

It all depends on your usage.
I'm probably going to get the MBA 13" But I'm going to keep my iPad because Both have different purposes for me. I use my iPad for web surfing, reading books and PDFs and although MBA can also do this but I prefer the iPad because of the touch UI and its form factor. However I'll do some works which can't be done on the iPad such as photoshop etc.

I'd sell the MBP. The iPad and MBA are two different devices. I plan on picking up a MBA in a few weeks to replace my aging Macbook. I use my iPad for doing homework when I need to browse my PDF's in my iDisk. Its like using a textbook that is .25 inches thick. The MBA will be my travel device when I need to take a computer to do lab work, collaborate for a report or do serious work on the road. All other purposes I have my iMac at home for the base station. You sound like a similar situation to myself.

In other words. iPad is for media consumption, MBA is for media creation.

hey, where did you post your MBP for sale? i'm in similar dilema like yourself. I have the mid 2009 MBP with upgraded RAM and SSD, a 32GB iPad and i just bought the 13" MBA standard. i really like the Air and I could see it replacing the MBP a lot. My wife wants me to sell the MBP since we don't need it. I still like the Pro very much and I want her to use it but she doesn't want to.

A lot of people with both a mba and ipad will carry both at the same time. At least for me, I plan on it. They are two very useful and distinct devices. Besides, both of them weigh less than a 13" mbp.
