Hi I am currently running Mojave on my 2012 MP. I am maxed out with CPU and RAM and use an metal GPU. So being someone who likes tinkering I am thinking of upgrading to catalina. Has anyone on here done that and if so was it worth it.........did you see any noticeable improvement in performance etc etc
Thanks in Advance

I like Mojave in that it's the last OS to run 32bit apps. That said, I upgraded and dont miss them much. But im on the new 7,1 Mac. I was thinking about the same thing for my 5,1, but I'm to lazy to go through the upgrade rigmarole, but if you have the energy, I think it's almost always better to be on the latest OS. That said, Mojave is a great place to be 'stuck' because of the extra 32bit app compatibility.

It depends if you will need the new features of Mac OS Catalina in your work. I still need my 32-bit Accounting app and I’ve no plans in upgrading to Catalina 10.15 I was able to try out Catalina when my friend brought his iMac to my place. Using Catalina for a couple of days, the speed in opening apps, saving large files using Adobe apps is just about the same with Mojave and High Sierra. I still use High Sierra alternately.

What I can suggest is keep your Mojave SSD and on a separate SSD, install the OS Catalina and compare, try it out. That what I do when a new OS comes out as you could easily revert to the older OS version. Some apps may not work unexpectedly in Catalina. The article below might provide you some more insights on Catalina
