I apologize up front if this is a tired question that gets asked a lot. My searches didn't uncover a great deal.

Next weekend I'm getting an iPod Classic 120GB. My wife and I are running about 15 miles a week and I'm interested in taking the classic along with me. The HD concerns me though. All those impacts can't be good for it...

But on the other hand I noticed that there are several arm-bands available for the iPod Classic. If they were made by Apple then I would take it as a sign that Apple considers this product robust enough to not crap out after miles of running impacts. I think most if not all of the arm-bands I saw were made by 3rd parties so I'm not making any assumptions.

Personally, I wouldn't. I've dropped and shaken iPods to death before, and not just when running. Consider picking up a second-hand 1st or 2nd gen Shuffle and using your current earphones. 1st gen Shuffles can be had for as cheap as $10-15 on eBay.
