Should I trade my T43p for a black CD MB?

hi,

I got this T43p:
IBM / Lenovo T43p laptop (2668-H2G) As New

15" screen (1600x1200 resolution) IPS FLEXVIEW UXGA LCD - NO DEAD PIXEL
2.13ghz CPU - Pentium M Centrino (Intel® Pentium® M Processor 770)
2GB memory - DDR2 533MHz Dual Channel (PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM)
60GB Hard drive 7200rpm
Geniune Windows XP Pro SP2 installed
ATI Mobility FireGL V3200 256MB
Bluetooth
Wifi 802.11a/b/g
USB 2.0 x2
10/100/1000 Network card
Touchchip fingerprint reader
DVD+/-RW
UK AC adapter, UK keyboard
2 x 9 cell batteries (1 Brand New) - total more than 10 hours!
Model is 2668-H2G.
Warranty expires 06-06-2008.

Some one wants to exchange my T43p with his black core duo macbook with 2GB Ram. (bought Sept 06)

Do you guys think I should do this or what sort of compesating fee I should ask for?

edit: done some search on ebay.
T43p is about £650+
Black MB (CD): roughly £530
So, I should ask for £100 on top of the exchange?
 
Yes.

The resolution of that 15" is brilliant - that alone would bump the laptop price up a lot. Plus it is still under guarantee. You might be able to try and get a bit more than just £100.
 
Well the Core Duo processor is definitely going to be faster than the Pentium M that you have. However, the MB has integrated graphics while you have dedicated. The rest of the specs are probably about equal.


I'd say, if you want a Mac and don't need the dedicated graphics, then go for it. If you do need dedicated graphics, then keep the Thinkpad for now and look for a deal on a CD Macbook Pro.
 
That depends what you're going to be using it for.

The macbook's display is going to be one of the larger differences from what you've been experiencing. The MB's display is 1200x800, which is quite a large step lower than your 1600x1200.

However, the processor should give you a decent boost over your T43p, so things might work snappier, and you could always throw XP back onto the MB if you want to use it.

Don't expect to get any incredible graphical power out of the macbook though.

Once again, it all comes down to what you want to use the laptop for.

i've already got an intel imac and a 12' powerbook at home. and there is an ibook and g5 power mac in my office. so basicly am a mac guy.:apple:

bought a white cd mb last year and was forced to sell it by my lady...
always dreaming to have a black mac (never had before...)

it seems not a big difference between cd mb and c2d mb. if there is, please correct me;)

i feel a bit sorry that i only asked for £100:(
 
Core Duo is 32bit and Core 2 Duo is 64bit - Leopard will be optimized for 64bit.

You don't have to worry much though; it'll run slightly slower than a 64bit processor, but then in the next 4 months, Core 2 Duo will be out of date.

If it meet your needs and works smoothly, who cares what's round the corner.

exactly!
i only want to use it browse some webpages when i am in bed or in sofa, t43p is too big for that use and too noisy...

i think i wil love my "new" black mb:)

gonna do the exchang this Sat ;)

Nah they're not - I have exactly the same model as my work PC and for spreadsheet work (of which I do lots), it's fantastic. Use 75% zoom in Excel and you get about 80 lines. If Apple did a 15" widescreen version of that, I'd hand over the ££ straight away. Dropping to 75% on my MBP just makes the individual cell entries jaggy and illegible - the screen resolution is just not good enough to handle it.

Anyway - back on track - if all the OP wants to do is surf in bed, get the MB + a hundred notes.
