I had an old iPad 2 that has been setting around gathering dust. As I was preparing it for sale, I decided to give it a run.

I was really surprised at how well it runs, very little lag and relively smooth transitions, despite being more than six years old. It sure runs a lot better that the cheapo Android tablets out there that are of similar value to the resale of the iPad 2.

I'm actually thinking of keeping it as backup and casual use. It's currently running iOS 9.3.1.

If I decide to keep it, if I upgrade it to iOS 10 will ruin the performance? Anybody out there can share their experience?

I have a couple iPad 2's laying around the house, they run fine for what they are used for, web surfing, youtube, email and iMessage. Yes for a 6 year old tablet, they still work fine. My daughter plays games on it and watches Netflix and youtube for kids. Still a capable machine and battery life is actually decent.
