I always forget to turn off my iPod shuffle (latest gen) when I'm not using it. I just pause a song. Does it get into a sleep mode? Should I do a normal shutdown?

I instinctively shut it off between sessions. I'd think pause will simply not allow your shuffle to last as long between charging.

The physical ON/OFF button wouldn't make sense if the same operation could be handled by just pausing the device. I completely drained my 3rd generation shuffle's battery multiple times because I forgot to turn it off. I did not forget to turn of the 4th gen shuffle though, maybe because it looks so 2nd gen and I always turned that off. ;)
