Should I unlock my AT&T iPhone 6?

My iPhone 6 is coming up to being paid off through AT&T. Should I request to unlock it once it's paid off?

I'm almost certain to upgrade to the next iPhone in September and, while I was planning on selling it back to Apple but I THINK I may be selling it to a friend.

Absolutely! There are no disadvantages to unlocking your iPhone.

Great. I just paid it off. I only owed 1 more month so figured I'd get it out of the way. I don't want any hassle when I go to upgrade.

I say unlock. If you give it or sell it to a friend it only gives them more options and if you sell it to someone else it makes it more valuable.
