Should I update my 1.ZERO.2 iPhone?

Since then I have got a nokia and have been completely out of the loop on all this stuff. I kind of want to start using my iPhone again. The last time I checked, it was advised not to upgrade to 1.1 as it wasn't nearly as hacked/unlockable. Not exactly sure why I haven't updated since, as I know thats changed. But anyways, I remember my buddy sold his PSP for more than MSRP because it was running an earlier firmware. Is there any advantage to keeping my earlier firmware? Or can anyone take an OTB 1.4 and downgrade it to be exactly the same as mine? I take it theres three main things going on with the firmware, the firmware itself, the baseband, and the bootloader? When new firmware come out usually they are only unlockable if your coming from an earlier version, but not OTB (because your keeping an earlier baseband/bootloader intact) right? So yeah, if there are any advantages to keeping my older firmware what are they? And what do you consider to be the main advantages of newer firmwares (i can really only think of mylocation in gmaps)? And keep in mind i need it SIM unlocked and don't use the itunes music store.

• you can't downgrade perfectly from 114 to 101, but theres next to no reason anyone would do so
• all phones can be upgraded to the latest firmware (now 114) and activated/jailbroken/unlocked for full functionality from there
• if yours is unlocked, you need to virginize your phone before upgrade
• once virginized, upgrade to 114 (i like to go via 111)
• once on 114, use iNdependance to activate/jailbreak/unlock
• tweak to your hearts content
• enjoy a phone exponentially better than any nokia out there

Haha my Nokia can do a lot of things my iphone wouldn't even dream of doing.


Ok seems simple enough to do if I want to. Are the newer firmwares better in your opinion?

Also, can I change my email settings somehow so that:
1) when I send an email with gmail I don't get a copy of it
2) so that emails are automatically pushed to me like with a blackberry instead of checking periodically

if ur not gonna use, sell it, but if you are...

Just use IMAP for all of your accounts, then all of your folders (including sent) will be synced.

As for push... I've been wondering that myself
