Should I update my Macbook?

I just got my mb back from repair (3rd logic board, hopefully this time it works for good) anyway, I hve noticed something odd. I used it at school on my lap for about 30 minutes just surfing the web and such. But...the temperature according to CoreDuoTemp didn't go over 25 C the whole time. Now I am at home, got it plugged in and sitting on my iLap with music going, downloading stuff, surfing the web etc. and it hasn't gone over 20 C the whole time. It feels warm but not WARM like it was pre fix.

So I go to update and it says I need that SMC update again, and the 10.4.8 update. I don't know if I should! This is really quite nice and I don't want to upset whaetver is going on.

Is the SMC/10.4.8 update REALLY needed? or can I live without it? Although the laptop seems to be running a lot slower than before...more lag, things taking longer to boot up, etc.

(typing this its sitting at 15-19 C... seems really low...)

Just an opinion, but I imagine that the reason your computer is now less hot is not due to the software on it, and more a case of the new hardware. So if it was me, I would go ahead and update.

Maybe something is screwy with the CoreDuoTemp? This thing is hotter than 19 C but not as hot as it was. But anyway, I am just worried that the fan update (the SMC one) will cause it to go back to how it was.

The change would be due to the new logic board. The newer revisions fix some problems, and are all also cooler running. Should be fine to do the updates

The SMC update makes the fans run all the time (hence no moo from starting and stopping) so your MacBook will be even cooler after you do the update!

... my laptop doesn't work anymore. Gray Screen of death on start up....for the 4th time *sigh*

I hate apple laptops so much

try holding down option command p and r when you are starting up and see if that helps
