I already downloaded the update and that took about an hour. Im running 4.3.5 on my iPhone 4 right now. I was going to go ahead and update but decided to wait because it seems that the servers are still pretty swamped. What do you guys think? Should I wait?

I see no reason to wait, especially since you have the file already. Go for it and enjoy iOS 5!

I was wondering the same thing. Some people are reporting that they're losing their texts/photos/videos when they update, would there be an increased chance of this happening while the servers are still swamped?

I can't see how. All that stuff is restored from your computer. As long as you got a good sync/backup before upgrading you should be fine.

those are the people that aren't waiting for their backup to complete, and just wanted to hurry and install iOS5...patience.

Sorry but disagree about waiting and not true about it only being people not waiting for their backup. I've been trying to update for about 4 hours now (iOS 5 was downloaded earlier today) and only now was able to get past the internal error issue posted all over these forums.

Save yourself the hours of headaches and lack of a functioning phone and wait a while longer.

I probably should've waited, but too far in now. So slow, got ATV2 updating along with iPhone. Still have OS X Lion, iPad 2, iPod touch, and another iPhone to go. And now found out iPhoto and Aperture 3 have updates. Just want to be done with this, but exciting non the less.

It'll all be worth it. In the meantime, set up iCloud on the site, and then you can tie up your devices and machines as you go along!

Yea I think I'll wait till about 10 pm est. Idk why. I think apple should have staggered the release times. It probably would have went much smoother.

I've seen one person on another forum get their battery life slaughtered on an i4.

Other contributing causes?

I'm sure there are but that one factor alone is enough for me to wait on what all the other MR people will end up with by Friday.

That right there just made me wait. The one thing i take pride in is always having good battery life.

I was on my third phone doing updates. My wife's of course. I made sure I synced it before even trying the update to get a good backup. Hit update, let it do the additional backup. Get an internal error. It's stuck in recovery mode. GREAT! I look to make sure I have a good backup and it said the last one was in JUNE! Great! She's going to kill me! GO through the update because now it's too late anyway. Much to my surprise it loads everything from the back up. Long story short, even when you don't think it backed up, it still did! Not sleeping in the doghouse tonight!

A little update for you guys...I installed it about 45 minutes ago. Everything went flawlessly and installed on the first try. First impressions are that its pretty awesome. I like all of the new looks (like to the text message app), notifications are pretty awesome too. It's way better than before and its about time. I'm just glad I didn't have any trouble so all is good here

EDIT: Also my phone feels like it is much zippier. there is really no lag when loading messages and basically everything else
