Hi,

I've been away from the jailbreaking scene for a while, and it seems that I've lost track of everything. Here is my situation, my iPhone 3G(not 3GS) is still on 3.0 and I was wondering if I should upgrade to 3.1.2. I did not do an upgrade previously because everything was working fine and I don't want to mess around with it. But now, I can't seem to install new apps because of the outdated firmware.

My iPhone 3G is officially unlocked, it works with any compatible carrier. If I were to upgrade, I would like it to be jailbroken as well. I used to jailbreak it with Redsn0w on 3.0, but it seems that only blackra1n is the only solution now.

What are the cons if I upgraded? Is there any serious problem that I should know with blackra1n?

This is really offtopic, but I like your name. I actually prefer /g/ to /b/ nowadays, as /b/ has gotten worse and worse in the past few years.

Youll lose nothing and gain those apps you cant use. If your phone somehow locks itself, you can easily unlock it. Just use blackra1n. It isnt the ONLY solution, but I find it to be the easiest and quickest.

There is a very stable beta version of redsn0w 0.9 available that will jailbreak your phone. I would recommend it over blackra1n, since I have heard of far fewer problems.
