Should I upgrade?

Retina Macbook Pro
Late 2013
2.3GHz Intel i7
16GB Ram

I am currently on Mavericks 10.9.5.

I was just wondering if its worth upgrading to Yosemite.

I use my Macbook for the following :

Lots of Internet via Chrome (Thinking of using Safari)
Photoshop
Final Cut Pro X
Audacity
After Effects
Steam (BioShock Infinite, Game Dev Tycoon, RCT3, and more)
and
Occasional Mail Checking


Just want a new feel to OSX and I personally like the way it looks from the pictures I have seen but I DO NOT want my Macbook to not perform less than the way it does now which is like a beast.

Yes but take a backup first so you can revert if you don't like it. Bear in mind it will need to re-index spotlight etc so initial performance may be hit by that as always.

I haven't notice any loss of performance with Yosemite. Also if you have iOS devices, the continuity/handoff features have been nice and have worked very well for me.

I was going to start a thread asking why is Apple so insistent on us all getting Yosemite But I'll tag on to this thread since it's not that long and it answers some of my concerns.
JDphoto says he hasn't seen any performance slowdown .Anybody else ?
It sounds like Yosemite is constantly sending data to Apple. I would think this would slow some computers down?

I get reminded every day to upgrade on my iMac and laptop and this feature is not turnoffable so I am curious as to why Apple is so insistent that people upgrade even though Yosemite may render certain apps useless and slow down performance.

NO don't do it. I've had all sorts of minor issues with Yosemite and a few occasional performance based issues that are due to glitches. Yosemite is still glitchy.

A lot of people are having sound issues and I'm having a good number of random issues.

Yesterday I couldn't get notifications to go away. I turned off notifications, but they keep coming back.

Yosemite is basically a stable beta right now. It's not doing anything damaging or creating havoc, but I wish I had waited a few more months before making the jump. I just don't care for having to deal with all these annoying little issues like iTunes skipping or my DAC going silent all of a sudden and needing to be restarted.
