I ordered an iPhone today, and I would like to unlock it to use on T-mobile.

First should I use iPlus or Ziphone? (I know about all the bootloader stuff, i just want be sure to use the best and easiest program)

I really need some step-by-step instructions from opening the box and unlocking to installing apps. I am on a windows machine, so I really need the instructions to be for windows.

Also what is the best place to get apps, how do I know which apps are safe, and how do I learn how to use apps like summerboard and the installer?

Please, please help! I would really like to be completely ready when my iPhone shows up.

Use Ziphone http://www.ziphone.org/ Best unlocking/jailbreaking/activating tool out there used it on 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 You can choose whether or not you want to downgrade your bootloader personally i would go with ziphone

Once you jailbreak your phone you will get the installer app with a BUNCH of apps within it if want to know more about the apps touch the more info tab under the apps name or go to the website the the app has posted within it, as far as the best place to get apps i just stuck with swirlyspace iclarify and the other ones that came deafult when you get the installer app hope i helped have fun!!!

Thanks for your imput Jasdway. :)

I have heard that iPlus is safer to use, is this true? Is it just as easy?

Can someone please point me to a current tutorial and/or video, not an old one, but one for the 1.1.4 firmware. Thanks!

Someone please tell me what to do! My iPhone should be here in a couple of days! :D

do a search for threads started by me and there should be one, just broke my iphone a week or two ago with a virgin 1.1.4 iPhone on AT&T. Had great luck with it so far, no issues with youtube or mail or anything. Having a small issue with one app, will figure that one later.

Ok, the tutorial tells me to download the 1.1.4 firmwear and restore it to that. Wouldn't just pushing restore in iTunes do the same thing (at least until the next firmwear is released)?

Isn't Ziphone easier than this? Just press one button?

As your new iPhone will already be on firmware 1.1.4, you can skip the restore section.
Yes ZiPhone is a 1 click solution. However iPlus is safer and will add the following packages:
- Installer
- Community Sources
- BSD subsystem
- OpenSSH
- VT-100
Plus a number of fixes

If your iPhone is not going to be with you for a few days, keep an eye out for iLiberty+, GUI of iPlus and pretty much 1 click
