Should I wait for a MBA update?

You don't even need a buyers guide to know that it's been way too long...and so yes waiting is the best choice...but if you need a machine asap I guess you could get a refurb model for the mean time and sell it after the update
I would wait. The Macbook Air is overdue for an update, plus the last update was lackluster to begin with. There are also many hardware issues with the current models, but I am not really looking to rehash all of that. Until they get updated, I would recommend a 13 Macbook Pro should you not be able to wait.
I really hope Apple gets their act together and addresses some of the concerns with this next update (in particular the lines issues with the rev b and c with the screen. I know many people cant notice, but I can, and its annoying as hell, especially when the rev a had such a beautiful screen).
I will gladly sell my Macbook Pro and switch back should the issues be addressed.
I can carry my Macbook Air and iPad around and still have a pound to spare when compared to my 15" Pro. I need a computer for work, and as much as I love the iPad for leisure, it cannot replace a computer. The Macbook Air is a great computer (I teach and use Keynote and Pages a lot). I just hope Apple can give us something really worthwhile.

I read some good advice in another thread recently that obtains here. A poster said that if you really need a computer immediately and find one that will fulfill your needs then, by all means buy it right away. If you are reasonably well taken care of by what you own now, though, the best bet is to probably wait for new and improved models. I know that this is a paraphrase of what one or another of you has already told the OP but it makes so much sense to me, I thought I should post it anyway.
The OP's decision whether to buy a curent MBA or wait for the new model boils down to whether he thinks he can live with only 2Gb or RAM and some of the other well known limitations of the current MBA for the foreseeable future. If so, then there is no reason he shouldn't buy right away. Otherwise, the best bet is to wait.

Actually I am not really in a rush.. but I waited already a half year.. so I can wait a half year again..

WWDC is five weeks away, so hang on at least until then. It seems obvious that Apple will introduce new products at WWDC just as it did last year. I would imagine they would have waited for the MBP update if sales weren't suffering from the old product.
update could happen between 1 week to 15 months depending whether is this a priority to apple.
I run Windows 7 on my MBA and get much better performance from Windows than I do from OS X. The problem is that I wish I could run both OSes at the same time. However, with only 2 GB of RAM the current MBA cannot do it. The current MBA runs either or fine, but I have to close out OS X to get into Windows 7 and vice-versa. Hopefully we will get a new MBA very soon that allows us to run both with at least 4 GB of RAM.

I waited for ages to get mine, when they didn't update it along with the new MBP line I just went for it ... and I love it. Yes - there will probably be an update soon, but for what I want - a system that starts up straight away, portability, ms word and a graphics card good enough for football manager 2010 - the SSD 2.13ghz model is perfect. It depends how desperate you are and what you really need it for - I think if people were that desperate for 4GB of ram they wouldn't be looking at a MBA anyway? (Not saying it wouldn't be nice to have it, but you know) ... anyway, as long as the next few versions of mac os x, ilife, ms office, and football manager work then I'll be happy - and with how zippy it is it should be fine.
Can anyone tell me if performance dips over time on this machine? I love how I can boot it up, and start using safari instantly ... but I remember being impressed with how quickly my old macbook started up but now 5 years later it's slow as s***.

In my experience, computers always slow down as they are used. The way to solve this is to reinstall the OS. If you have a Time Machine backup (and at least one other backup, in case something goes wrong) this is really easy. Boot from the OSX install disk. Use Disk Manager to reformat the hard drive. Install OSX onto the freshly formatted drive. Use Migration Assistant to move everything from the Time Machine backup onto your fresh OS. Enjoy the massive free speed increase! Seriously, it always amazes me how much faster a fresh installation runs - I think the "new computer feel" is 50% because it's a fresh installation and 50% because it's got faster hardware.
Now why can't Apple make an OS that doesn't slow down with use - oh yeah, they want to sell a new computer to you every year or so...
