Hi,

I'm panning on buying CSS to play with my cousin now that steam is comming to mac.
Though I was wondering, since I'm not really familiar with buying game on steam nor with the weekly deals stuff, should I buy the boxed version now or perhaps wait and hope they do a 50%off thingy when steam for mac releases ?
I would like to have a box, but I don't have the money to pay more than needed just for the box.
So do you, people who are a little more familiar with steam's weekly deals stuff, think there is any chance of them doing a 50%off thing fro CSS when steam for mac releases ?

Thanks !

This is just purely speculation...

I would think they'd run a sale around the time of release. It may not be the same date, like the sale they had for Left 4 Dead 2 not long before The Passing DLC was released.

I could see them doing a sale a week AFTER the Steam for Mac release. They'd get full price sales from the people who can't wait for Mac versions and then, afterwards, get the people who were on the fence with sale prices.

Of course, we assume all the Valve games would be immediately available for Mac, but there's a possibility that only a few will be ready at release while they continue working on the rest of their catalog.

How should we know? They might, and if you can wait you should wait and see, and I doubt anyone outside of Valve knows what they're going to do when Steam for Mac is publicly released.

There is a chance Valve will have some kind of welcoming sale to bring in Mac users, however I'd imagine it would be for The Orange Box. CS:S has almost no focus on it and its kept alive by its massive number of players. I can't see it going on sale.

Personally I'd just buy it now. Valve games are confirmed as being Steamplay enabled, that means buying the game once gets you the OSX and Windows versions. So come the moment Steam is out for Mac you will already own CS:S.
