Should I wait for the new iMac

I mainly use my my iMac for lightroom editing. Currently I have a 2013 - 27″ iMac, I installed a 1 tb SSD drive about 2 years ago, I have 16 gig ram, it’s starting to lag a bit, have to refresh the ram, the fan cuts on frequently.

I’m not too up on the lingo of guts of a computer. Would you recommend waiting for the new releases of the iMac coming out sometime this year, or would the current model be just as good…?

(My daughter is in college, I'm going to wait until tax free weekend, and get her education discount)

There have been strong rumours of an updated iMac, and many thought it would be announced at WWDC. I wasn't surprised an Intel machine wasn't launched at the same event as Apple silicon was announced. But Tim Cook did say there would be new Intel Macs coming, and the iMac is the model with the longest time since an update, so I think there is a good chance a new iMac is on the way.

I don't know when your tax free weekend is, especially as I don't know the country you are from (I know it isn't UK as we don't have such a thing), but hopefully there will be a new Mac by then.
