Should I Wait For the Next Generation iPad

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum and need some advice. Should I buy an iPad around October or November or just wait till the next generation iPad. As badly as I would love to get my hands on this device right away I would hate to buy an iPad and then a new one comes out a week later with better features and a lower price. Price is a concern and so are the new features that might come with iPad 2.0 or whatever they will call it.

If you need one now buy it, if you are in no hurry to get one just wait it out. I would at least wait until Sept. to see what gets announced
 
Chances are that a new one will come out in feburuary or march. I personally wouldn't wait.
 
To paraphrase Adam Philips: There will always be a gadget round the corner that will be newer, have more capabilities or new capacity. That's an excellent argument to buy now - as well as to put off buying.
 
Buy it now. Don't wait, I can honnestly say this is the best device I have ever had web and video looks amazing on it I absolutely love it, say u do wait and it gets delayed like the first iPad was, or the rum ors are true and the size is smaller, it's not heavy and it's a perfect resolution I'm sure a camera will get put into the first gen somehow. If not it's not biggy I have many cameras and video recorders and don't Evan use them much if i need to I have my iPhone at my side or my nokia 5800 xm. BTW first post with my iPad :)
 
A new version or revision of the iPad will likely launch in Sept./Oct. when iOS4 comes to the iPad. In any case, if you need or want an iPad now, get it. You can always sell it in a few months and still get a good price for it if you want to get the new version. As far as price is concerned, I wouldn't expect a huge drop like with the original iPhone to iPhone 3G, at least no the the 3G iPads.
 
Ok so I will most likely just get it around Novemeber. If i do decide to wait when do you think it will come out. Just curious because obvisously there isnt a release pattern because this is the first gen. It does kind of worry me that they might make it smaller because then it would be going closer the to the size of an iPod Touch or an iPhone. Basically when do you think the new one will come out.

I'd wait for the genii with holographic telekinetic memory, and multi-thought control, with 32 terebytes of on-board memory, and triple Retina see-through display. The current gen 1 iPad is utter crap. So bad in fact I bought three of them.

No one knows and anyone can give you any opinion that has no bases other than pure wild speculation. So I will cover it. The 2nd gen will be out between Sep 2010 and Nov 2011.

The most LOGICL assumption is the 2 gen 9.7" will be out about April/May following the standard 1 year generation cycle.
 
When is the 2nd generation iPad coming out

This is a very simple and staright forward question. When is the second generation iPad coming out. What is the price and what is it going to look like. Is it worth waiting for and do you think that getting a first gen iPad around november would be to late to get one.

No one knows when. No one knows a price. I doubt even Apple know, other than perhaps Q1 2011. I'd say you'd be safe to get one in November, although if you don't feel you need it then and could wait 4-5 months, hold off. I doubt it will look hugely different to the current model.
 
From other peoples experiences, do not buy Apple 1st Gen Devices. Chances are the next gen will have more features, redesign, and cheaper. My answer: Yes, wait.
 
This post and the retina display one both come up what... 5x a week? More? Buy it if you want it for pete's sake. When a new one comes out, sell it if you want the new one, buy the new one. This is not rocket surgery.

Logic dictates that if it isn't even AVAILABLE in all countries yet, think it might be awhile before we see a refresh?

You are so yesterday. It's been out for 6 hours. I'm waiting for the 3rd Gen to arrive Friday with the 4th Gen to arrive in time for the weekend.
 
I love the iPad, But I will wait for the 2nd gen. Why? Because the current iPad has only 256MB ram comparing to 512MB ram in iPhone 4, and after using both of them, the iPad is really slower than iPhone. The insufficient ram means multitasking on an iPad will be terrible - damnably slow. And what can we do with an iPad without multitasking? When we chat with friends on Facebook or Skype, we can't browse the web with Facebook or Skype keeping online.
I expect the 2nd gen iPad would have at least 512MB ram or 1GB, that would be nice and I will buy in day one!

You are absolutely right. Nobody knows when the new generation ipad will come out. Nobody knows what new features will possibly be included. Nobody knows anything regarding new gen. ipad. Nobody even knows IFFFF a new model will be released. Apple doesnt even know. They get information as its released to the public.
Bottom line, NOBODY KNOWS. . . Not even Apple. . Trust me. I know!! ;p
