iPhone Should I Wait until iOS 9.1?

I have an iPhone 5S running currently running iOS 8.3.
I got the iOS 9 notification to upgrade.
But should I wait until 9.1 comes out?

Need your suggestions.

I am running ios9 on 5s and runs fine, no big issues.
No point in just waiting because soon next 9.2 beta will come.

No one can tell you that. I upgrades both my 5S's and they work great. No issues. Battery is same or maybe better than 8.4.1. I like the new animation(s), font, and little things I see. Overall, the task switcher took a day or so to get used to, but it's fine IMO. In all honesty, there are no more hiccups or lagging issues than iOS 8.4.1.

Then again, I have few 3rd party apps installed. No games, just four Wx apps, Google maps and search, Twitter, some medical texts references, and a few photo editors. All in all, I like it fine. I'm looking forward to the 6S.

I think I read somewhere that iOS 9.1 will be launched around November time. So if your unsure wait.

It's a personal choice. We've all read posts where either a person is happy or is experiencing the lag/stutter. Turning Reduced Transparancy On & using still wallpapers have helped some , some say it makes iOS "ugly" I've always used them settings anyway on my iPhone.

I updated my 5S from 7.1.2 to 9.0 and I'm generally happy with it. No major glitches. The odd stutter but it doesn't really bother me and I'm sure these things will be ironed out in time. I think it may be just a fraction slower opening apps than my wife's 5S on 7.1.2 and I tested boot time from pressing the on button through putting in a pass code and swiping right from the home screen (to ensure I measure time until the phone is actually responsive) and the 7.1.2 took about 32 seconds and the 9.0 35 seconds.

Don't forget to back up first as I got hit by the swipe to upgrade bug and would have been stuffed without my backup.

Nope not november while i was doing restoring my iphone IOS 9 and saw (from itune screen on imac it showing when next update will be) it showing next update is on 27th of sept

Depends. What are your concerns regarding moving to 9?

The ad blocker for safari well worth the upgrade in my opinion, i was beginning to go back to my mac to browse the web purely because of ads diverting me to the app store.

Wow...Good question.

I was actually referring to whatever update will be lined up after iOS 9.
My main concern is the lag. Especially on the iPhone 5S.
Whoever upgraded to iOS 9 on their iPhone 5S, please do report the performance.

I wont be getting an iPhone 6 for some time. I hate the size and the slimness.
That's why I am asking if iOS 9 is stable under the iPhone 5S.

So, I would like an overall verdict on iOS 9 before I do the move.
Will it be worth it or just wait?

Heard many people that it is just still too early to move to iOS 9 and better to wait instead.

I have Reduce Transparancy toggled on and use a still wallpaper which appears to help with the lag experienced by some. I've always had those settings but some say it makes iOS look ugly !

On a 5S there isn't much harm holding off for a while. Unless you see a compelling reason to upgrade (personally I don't) the concenus seem to feel at the very best performance might be as good as 8.4.1, while many feel it's a downgrade in performance.

9.1 is mainly for iPad Pro support (plus some more emojis.) It won't be released until November when the iPad Pro come out. So no, 9.1 isn't coming out on the 27th like you seem to think. The only possible 9.1 on the 27th would be the second build of 9.1 BETA (so iOS 9.1 Beta 2) as that would follow the typical two week beta build release schedule.

As everyone has said, it's not the best. I can live with it, I found disabling Siri spotlight suggestions made my iPhone 5s a lot smoother and for now I can live with that, but if you are expecting a "boost" then I'd hold off. Because it's lag is worse then 8.4.1, also the new app switcher is very laggy, keyword "new" things will iron out within the next month or so. It's really your choice

I think the only reason an iPhone user should upgrade to iOS 9 right away is if you use Apple Music a lot, the app has a lot of improvements on the newer OS. If you're not then it's best to wait until 9.1

Of course as an iPad user there's a lot reasons for me to upgrade.

The lag was so unbearable with iOS 9 on the 5s that I had to downgrade back down to 8.4.1.

If anything, upgrade to 8.4.1.

Or if you want Safari improvements (in particular content blocking). Or if you want proactive Siri and other Siri improvements.

It's going to have to be a decision that needs broaching soon for those on the fence while iOS 8.4.1 is still being signed. (Could change at any minute)

I would go with your gut feeling ;)
