Thinking of updating my MM(Late 2014), 2.8GHz,8GB Ram, 256SSD From OS "Yosemite" to OS "El Capitan" Before being too Late when OS "Sierra" is issued within the next couple of months? I have been using OS "Yosemite" which was installed on my MM since June, 2015 with not one(1) significant problem.

Question, Should I??

I can't help you choose to upgrade to El Capitan. That's a personal choice, but I do think it's a good upgrade :D
Backup your present drive, if you don't keep a current full backup, before you begin.

But, it's also likely that El Capitan will not be updated again, so you could go NOW to the App Store, and download the El Capitan installer. When it completes, the installer will launch automatically.
You can continue at that time to upgrade.
Or, quit the installer. It will be stored in your Applications folder. Save the installer app to another drive, so you have it already downloaded if you want to use it some time in the future. Even better, create a bootable installer on a USB flash drive. An 8GB size is ideal. There's easy-to-find instructions for creating a bootable installer for El Capitan.
And, very convenient to keep that around, just in case Sierra doesn't give you any thrills. And, when Sierra is fully released, you can do the same with THAT installer, downloading from App Store, then creating a separate bootable installer, etc.

Just make sure you ‘buy’ it in the App Store before Sierra is released. You can always download it later from your purchase history. Purchasing an OS X upgrade will only download the installer application. It will not install it automatically.

So how do I do this if I want to download but install at a later time, if I quit does it save automatically on my drive? Or it needs to be copied elsewhere e.g. to an external drive?

If you download the installer, it will launch automatically when the download is complete.
If you don't want to continue at that time, just quit the installer rather than continuing.
And, yes, you can copy the installer app to another drive, wherever you like.
The OS X installer will be in the Applications folder.
Name of the app is (surprisingly :D ) "Install OS X El Capitan"

If you do copy the installer to another drive, then be sure to drag the one in your Applications folder to the trash, then empty the trash. It does take up over 6GB of space :)
And, again, ideally, you can use the app to create a bootable flash drive for the installer. Makes it very convenient to use - and you can then use it to install on any other Mac you have that might support El Capitan, too.

Right on thanks

If it works, why change .?.. my Mac is Early 2015.

I'm still on Yosemite and not even a hesitation about updating to anything else, because there is noting in future OS's that interest me at all from Apple. Sad reality, but its true... for me anyway..

If there is stuff u may want or particular software that support (El cap only as minimum), then u have no choice. or find alternative software that does just as good.

Optionally, u can run Parallels, VMWare fusion 8 (even version 7.1.3) works with el cap somewhat. Run WINE etc..
