Whenever I press down on the screen, that part of the screen goes white. Similar to when you touch an laptop or an lcd screen. Is this normal?

No that doesn`t sound right. I would go to Apple Store and see what they say about it...

Or are you pushing a button that is supposed to turn white when hovered over?

(just out of curiosity; I wish not to insult Intelligence).

I would imagine you're either pressing really hard or it's just one of those apps that turn where you touch white, usually only in the heading bar. Does it turn white no matter where you touch and no matter what app you're in? More details please.

this only happens in the centre of the screen. And I noticed that I can press down on the back of the phone in the centre and it makes a creaking sound. I think I'll be replacing my phone
