Good afternoon,

I was wondering whether or not there should be a little number indicating the amount of new mail in my inbox when accessing my mobileme via the internet. I may be mistaken or have imagined in but I am sure that it used to say how many new emails I had in my inbox.

It's not on mine, and this is just one of a number of shortcomings that I am discovering after just a few hours of use. :(

Another is that I cannot see any way to format the way the date is displayed. The American way is confusing for us Europeans. Why can't it be shown as, for example, 1 August 2008 (as it is in Leopard Mail), rather than 8/1/08?

Thank you for your reply. Regard the date format if you go to calendar preferences you can chose the date format ie dd/mm/year for non US
or mm/dd/year for US hope this helps.

Yes I saw that thanks, but that setting seems to be specific to the calendar, and does not affect the display in mail.

Yes, that is very true, sorry about that. I have had a look around and there doesn't seem to be a way of changing it. Very annoying!!!! (do you have any idea on how to import contacts as I have asked in my other thread)

I googled the question for you and found this short thread which suggests an answer but I'm not sure about it. Might be worth following that thread though if you don't get an answer here.

There seems to be a distinct lack of options in the preferences of MobileMe.

Thank you for your help I will have a look at that thread. It is proving harder to do than it should be!

Are you a Windows XP user, because I just found this:

I agree that MobileMe is not worth the money at this point. However, on my XP machine, if I go to Control Panel > MobileMe, mine gives me the options to sync contacts from Outlook, Windows Address Book, Google Contacts and Yahoo Contacts with MobileMe. As for calendars, it only give me Outlook. I have not tried it on Vista yet as I refuse to install iTunes on it. Vista is my good machine -- don't want that POS on there ;)

I have had a look and am not sure how to find mobileme on the control panel. It is either not there or I can't find it.

Sorry, I switched to Mac over a year ago and I am no longer familiar with Windows XP.

Good luck with it.

Incidentally, you should also make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes installed (7.7.1).
