obviously some type of macine has to replace the 17 inch pb and 12 inch.. anyways should we see a price drop in the 15 inch?
or until 64bit?
also,
does anyone have anything to argue that mac book pros are faster than pc labtops?
i think acer has up to 3.0 ghz or something. why is apples macbook pro sitting at 1.6 for flippin 2299 (CA).

Yes we will see a price drop when the 17" comes out.
No there is no 3GHz Yonah dual core processor, so compare apples to apples plz.

I think we will see a price drop when the 17 inch is released. I can't see a 17 inch being 2999, I think we will see the MacBook Pro prices start to shift more toward the PowerBook G4 prices.

No, no price drop for the 15". Possibly slightly better specs - larger or faster HDD, slightly faster procs for the same prices, DL optical back again (assuming a unit is available by then).

12" from $1499
17" from $2499

So what your saying is that the 15 inch is gonna be the same price as the 17 inch? the 1.83 ghz is $2499

Yes, essentially (although you are comparing the faster 15" with the slower 17").

I'd expect a 15" 1.83 to be $1999 and a 15" 2GHz to be $2499

17" 1.83 to be $2499 and 17" 2GHz to be $2999
12" 1.67 to be $1499 and 12" 1.83 to be $1999

Of course, this is all speculation - I know no more than you ;) However, I think it is now clear that Apple don't want to significantly change the form factors or price points for the rev.A. Intel machines when compared to their last PowerPC counterpart.

Of course you could be correct, but what seems typical of Apple atleast since they started releasing the 17 inch Powerbooks is that they usually have 1 model of it and it has the best and greatest.
