So it seems Apple have removed the ability to show contact photos in 10.2 on an iPod Touch. The option is no longer in messages.

Wonder how many Apple engineers they had on this useless project?!? Daughter is real pleased to have functionality removed.

I believe the option and the ability was removed on devices with smaller (4" and below) screens probably so that their limited screen real estate isn't taken up by more/larger things essentially.

Yeah kind of figured that was it. Again, Apple gets to decide what a user wants. Daughter had no issues with the contact photos and enjoyed them. It was already a toggle switch, not like they had to code something in.

Guessing iPhone SE users also lost them.

Agreed, they could have left the option in (even let's say they would disable it by default, for example).
