Am thinking about moving to a more minimalist look. I've always liked the docks with three or four letter abbreviations for applications. I wouldn't mind seeing yours, and if you could post what font you're using, that would be fantastic.

It's not too hard, all you have to do is find icons in the form of letters, then select each individual program, and in the info box select the icon and copy the new one over it. Then you're all set. :)

The link that says "my addon" I assume you did those? if so why is it that the stacks icons do not have transparent backgrounds like the other icons?
I am trying to use them on my 2d dock and I am having a pretty bad time of it.

Weird... here's a shot of how I see them installed (the same icons as bundled in my link above)

As far as why the transparent backgrounds don't show, it's a puzzle. Do older versions of Mac have trouble with that? I really don't know...

oh. how are you making it so that that icon shows all the time for the stack?

On my system I just told it to always show the folder icon and then i switched the folder icon.

hmm I still don't really want to use the icons like that I would rather just change the folders icon and have it stay one way.
I don't care to see random little images behind the icon showing what is in that folder.

The benefit of having Drawers is that they icons automatically re-touch so they're always on top, and thus the icon you always see in the Stacks bar. If you just change the icon alone, then it'll change when you add other files with a alphabetically-earlier name or more recent touch date (or however you've got them sorted)

I have done it already its just that the files that I am using from our friend above us. The problem with that is that the backgrounds have black in them instead of being transparent :(

I suppose they are just as productive as other icons?
I didn't know icons were productive?

If anything it's less productive because they all look the same and it takes longer to find what you're looking for.

Although I don't know what the dock is still around when you can just use spotlight.

Right click on the stack, and click "Display as Folder."

you didn't really read my posts did you?
I am saying I want buddies icons with a transparent background so that I can do exactly what you said (which is exactly what I am already doing).

Currently i get a black background I don't want.

Interesting... is it an icon file or a png?

must be a pain in the ass to make a new icon for every new program you download...jeez

Not really... considering it's only 4 letters, and way easier than trying to find a suitable icon that matches the rest of your set.

It's still more work than anybody else has to do...By anybody I mean the 'normal' people who just use the intended icon lol.
