Ear mutants walk among us.

Reading the complaints here on MacRumors forums, it becomes obvious that there are is a certain percentage of people for whom AirPods just don't fit. šŸ‘‚

Here is the original launch video for AirPods' progenitor EarPods:

"Making one headphone to fit everybody's ears would be like making one pair of shoes to fit everybody's feet.... As part of an exhaustive research and development project we three dimensionally scanned hundreds of ears and looked for a commonality. From that we were able to determine a common volume. This was our starting point for developing a form to fit a broad range of ears."

Apple recognized that their in-ear headphones would not be able to fit everyone. They were striving for perhaps the middle 80% of normal human ears - - leaving 10% on either extreme of ear mutants who wouldn't be able to wear them. šŸ§›ā€ā™€ļø

For the majority of us for whom AirPods fit perfectly, they offer supreme convenience. However, I ask now for you to take a moment to consider the tragic existence of the ear mutants who's birth abnormality prevents them from enjoying these incredible devices. šŸ˜¢

Show some love to the ear mutants in your life! šŸ„°

Some people really did luck out with their ear canals. & itā€™s sad to see them putting AirPods in upside down out of desperation, as itā€™s the only way theyā€™ll stay in their ears. Nevermind the fact theyā€™re sacrificing the phone function of the AirPods by doing this.

Let us pray the AirPods Pro IIā€˜s will fit their mutant ears. šŸ™

Ear mutant here (I donā€™t have that little ridge that they sit in for most people).

First of all, these are what I use:

Comes with a bunch and I cut them in half since I only need the bottom part. I tried hooks but removing them over and over again hen putting into the case is annoying and stretches them out within weeks until they donā€™t fit. The strips fit inside the case easy.

Second of all, AirPod 2 already came out. I have both. They both suck without the strips and are otherwise amazing with the inconvenience of the strips that get gross and need to be replaced every week or so and sometimes still come loose after extended use.

Lastly, AirPods Pro are the savior the mutants are looking for. I got them for Christmas and they work great (fit) aside from a weird audio issue Iā€™m having with the left one after the firmware update.

I love the feel-good stories of those who lucked out with Airpods v1/v2, but can now enjoy the Proā€™s.
