iPod Show your nano 5G

Here's mine, the best nanos Apple made IMO. All mine are 16 GB, and all of them are absolutely flawless as they came out of the packaging. They wear Power Support Crystal screen/clickwheel protectors, and are kept in SwitchEasy CapsuleThins case. Enjoy:

Here are my two 5G nanos, both 16 Gb.

The blue one is sporting a Scosche Kickback n5 case, which has a nice pop-out stand in the back that holds it at a perfect angle for watching videos. The silver one is in a cheaper Incipio case. It's being held upright in the photo by some little suction-cup-round-ball thingy my wife picked up for me; it turns out to hold more solidly than the flimsy original holder that came with the case, and will work with pretty much any small device.

I got the blue one the first month the 5G came out; at the time, I still had a 2nd gen nano. When the 2G was stolen, I replaced it with the silver one, which was one of the last 5Gs available from Apple's online refurb store. The blue one is showing a little bit of wear around the edges, but still plays like a champ through the V-moda Vibes as shown.

The blue one is playing the music video to Howard Jones's "New Song"; the silver shows The Human League's "Fascination!" EP. (Yeah, so I like synthpop, but that's another topic...)

Oh, and puma1552, nice preservation work on your machines! :)

Man, those nanos are insanelly cool. I would like to see a rela pic of al colors together, there are like 9, right>?
 
Still have my blue 16GB 5G. Love it- I'm not going to buy another nano without the clickwheel as I hate the fiddly little touchscreen on the new ones. I suspect this means I'll never buy another new nano again :(

It's sitting in my car as a media device right now, I'll see if I can get a picture up later.

I know, right? With all the talk about the 5g being the best nano ever, I thought more people would've posted by now.

@TheMacBookPro: If you would, please take a pic of your 5g still in the car. Saves you from having to disconnect it, and shows a 5g in a real-world usage situation.

I never had one. Once the iPhone came out, an iPod became redundant for me. Here's my entire Apple iPod/iPhone timeline

4GB 2nd gen iPod Mini (bought July 2005)
4GB 1st gen iPod Nano (bought October 2005)
30GB 5th Gen iPod w/ Video (bought March 2006)
8GB 3rd Gen iPod Nano (bought February 2008)
16GB iPhone 3G (bought February 2009)
16GB iPhone 3GS (bought April 2010)
32 GB iPhone 4 (bought October 2010)
32 GB iPhone 4S (bought March 2012)
 
I really wish Apple hadn't changed the Nano. They could have kept the camera, and kept the screen size the same but add multi-touch. In doing so Apple could have eliminated the clickwheel while still keeping the Nano functional.

Quick rant. Whoever designed the placement of the Audi Media Interface should be shot- the plug is in a completely different zipcode and thus requires that I either lean over (breaking a few ribs in the process) to plug in my iPhone every time I get into the car or keep a separate iPod in the car permanently. Why wouldn't you put the connector in the center compartment like every other car?

With that said, integration is decent and it scrolls through relatively quick on the MMI. It lacks apps and display of album artwork which my BMW does though.

Thanks for the pics.

The connection's location does seem highly inconvenient at first glance. You're lucky, however; my Kia Rondo doesn't even have an analog aux audio input. If I want to listen to my nano through the car speakers, I have to use a Griffin iTrip-- no stereo separation and static-filled as he**. I could probably take a peek at some car audio shop to see what can be done, but it's not that high a priority right now.

Look into getting an aftermarket headunit- some of them work even better than factory integration to be honest. A friend of mine has a Pioneer AVIC in his older Merc- scrolls through stuff much quicker than the Audi/BMW integration, has album artwork display, voice command to select songs and several app integration features if you use an iPhone. Kinda costly at $1000 or so, but still way cheaper than factory nav (based on pricing for the factory system in my past few cars).
 
I have a 4 gig second-gen Nano. Just checked the prices for 5th Gen models. :eek:

A brand new 16 gig model runs upwards to $300. That's just crazy. Twice as much as the current gen with the same capacity.

Too bad I didn't get one when my buddy did. Course I was unemployed at the time. :)
 
I have a 5G Nano I use that I use daily, it got slashed up pretty badly after a certain incident and is a bit harder to use now. Here it is:

Looks fine to me. I notice the row of 4G nanos behind them.
I came >>this close<< to getting a refurb 4G instead of the 5G. The 4G had a very nice brushed finish, and the blue 4G matches my V-moda Vibes exactly. Ultimately, though, the 5G's increased functionality won me over.

The 4G nano was the model that made me fall in love with iPods! It's the one who started it all for me in 2008 :D

Apple thought it would be too blurry and wouldn't look good enough, they almost let it take pictures but didn't want to implement anything that would be less than perfect... I take pictures with my 5G on a regular basis (Freezing frames of the video) and even though it may be slightly more blurred than, maybe, iSight pictures, it still looks great and does a better job than m¥ $20 camera.

Then why does it take horrible video?
